What is a Family Constellation?

I have been very blessed to be sharing family constellation through a weekly sometimes fortnightly workshops with some dear friends this year and we have found it so incredibly healing and such a beautiful space to be vulnerable and to heal.

Looking at Family Constellations, imagine your family as a complex web of relationships, where each person plays a unique role and contributes to the overall energy.

Family Constellations recognizes that these relationships can sometimes become entangled or disrupted, and this can lead to distorted messages about who we are, how we see love even down to psychological challenges for individuals within each family.

In a Family Constellations session, you will be invited to bring your specific intention of what you want to look at in your life to the group.

We will have one person each session to have their family constellation and then up to 3 people as representatives of your current situation or issue.

During the session, you may explore issues or conflicts you’re facing in your life, such as relationship issues, health problems, or even career or business challenges.

Through the Constellations process, we help you to gain insight into how these issues may be connected to larger family patterns or unresolved traumas.

These sessions help you to uncover hidden, sometimes completely unconscious dynamics within their family.

This is often done through a process of having people step in as representatives of yourself, of your family members.

Being a Representative means that you will have the chance to stand in as a representative in people’s constellations. You can always say no and witness.

On a side note – often, as a representative we gain just as much as the person having their constellation done and sometimes even more with representing, as we find there’s often a synchronicity that brings you into the right representation or dynamic that you perhaps need to see or experience.

The Constellation unfolds as each representatives begin to move in the space and they feel what is happening.

It is almost instantly that something is felt through the body and you will not need to act or make anything up.

You may be representing someone’s mother, child, grand-parent, brother, career, loved one, pet, house, emotion, guides, or an unnamed energy/symbol.

One of the hardest part with constellations is to understand is how these representatives can know anything about your situation, let alone your Mum, Dad, business etc.

And yet somehow, as we open space – this information comes in incredibly. And it is bang on.

Somehow as a collective we also find a way forward for this person to heal in a complex situation.

I have seen the representative crying as they feel the emotions of the person they are representing.

One of our session, there was this moment where the parent was terrified of their child believing that they are enough. There was this moment where the child chose to no longer have those fears becoming their own person. There was this emotional swelling of pride as the parent saw their child was not only safe but was being their true selves.

It is so beautiful to be a witness.

I find as a small group sharing our journey, our pain, our shit storm, it actually forms a beautiful healing space to come in and share and be vulnerable.

My intention is each group comes together and stays together to work through each of your constellations. (So we’re looking at four people having one constellation per fortnight-ish over 2 months).

This includes receiving your own constellation to work through whatever it is you desire and also being a representative for the other 3 constellations.

These sessions can bring such a deep shift and understanding whether you are doing it for yourself or for others.

They can have you laughing, crying, sharing joy and connecting. I find they are magical, inspiring and deeply transformative.

I look forward to seeing you there!

What happens in a family constellation workshop?

  1. We open to our intentions and safety in the space (Either in person or online).
  2. One person (client) offers an issue or challenge in their life, and what they want in their life.
  3. I briefly may ask a few factual questions. Who is in your family? What losses, trauma, or difficulties have happened in your family line? (ie death, divorce, war etc)
  4. The client invites others to represent themselves and/or the parts, symbols, or people involved. We choose which parts, symbols or people intuitively. This is not a mental or thinking process. There is no analysing, just feeling into and sensing.
  5. The representatives stand and tune into their bodies, emotions, physical impulses, sensations, images and words that may come to them. They are guided to follow their movements and what their bodies feel compelled to do.
  6. We provide loving witness and observe with the client the dynamic that is unfolding.
  7. I assist the representatives in reporting what they experience. They speak from their individual perspective. We do not analyse, give advice, or try to fix anything.
  8. We allow the dynamic, imbalance, or unintegrated loss to reveal and provide support for the resolution.
  9. I, and the representatives, intuitively bring words to support a specific healing resolution or clarity.
  10. The constellation ends when all people in the constellation and in the room feel at peace.
  11. The client thanks each representative and does a closing ritual to shift everyone back to themselves.

You can book a individual session here. or a group workshop session here. I will work with you to organise a time to suit.
